Drum Lesson 1: Triplets

Why lesson 1? Cos i changed a new instructor... so everything is back to basic...

anyway i had my lesson in a whirl last week... cos i was late and horribly late... lesson is suppose to be at 4 but i reach about 5:20... hahaha..... so sorry to eat into GF's timing.... anyway i wasn't really in the mood last week... was rushing from one place to another and din't have any food for the whole day... and was very suay tat my slipper snapped.. so din't really pay much attention during class... was just trying to calm myself down and get to know the instructor... and i also realise i din't touch my drumstick for the whole of the week... just slack at home and din't practice... chumz chumz chumz... must buck up man... else how to form my band...

back to lessons... he taught us the few techniques of holding the drumstick... which is the wrist kind (which i normally use)... the finger kind (similar to wrist but palm facing side rather than down... and is only finger action minimal wrist) and lastly the traditional grip which 38 instructor taught a bit before liao....

he also tot us how to play triplets and changing between playing quavers, triplets and semi-quavers.. Dunno is it because i'm very used to changing between chrochets, quavers and semi-quaver tat i tend to follow that pattern.. meaning when i play the first bar of quaver its okie, but when i'm suppose to switch to triplet i tend to sub-divide into semi-quaver and played semi-quaver instead... than when i switch from semi-quaver back to quaver i tend to play at chrochet instead.. alamak... disatreous man... anyway got to practice more lah.. which reminds me tat i dun have a metronome yet... need to go get one real soon else difficult to practice.... ($ fly away again).... think i'm considering getting a drum pad too... at first tot it isn't really very necessary... but now mum is complaining that i will one day poke a hole into the dining room chair... i like the small vic 5th one which the new instructor had.... sighz.... ($$ fly fly away away)

oh talking about metronome.. i'm impress with his metronome... tat is the correct method mah.. shld get one tat can be plugged into the amp de.. not like the school one.. so pathetic.. if i hit the drum i can't really hear the metronome... sighz... anyway i'm very impress with the new instructor room and house.. first his drum room although small but has different thickness of drumsticks, etc... he has an amp also... I saw a flat screen monitor which i suspect is connected for writing music... there is a keyboard (music keyboard not computer keyboard) also... than the big metronome.... and of course his travel set drums... oh.. and he has another spare snare drum slightly away from his drumset... 麻雀雖小五臟俱全.... and his house right is very retro lor.... i saw the black telephone which the keypad is not press but turn kindz... and also some other retro things...

as for the new instructor teaching... he is a more hands on person as compare to 38... i think 38 explains a bit more.. which sometimes i find it necessary... but the new instructor is more of a look at his demo and tried it out yourself kind... but maybe because he dunno our standard yet so its difficult for him too.... but he really din't waste anytime unlike 38 who like to "hala" with us... hahahahaaa.....
