Drum Lesson 13: Own Creativity

Having complete my Hi-Hat pattern in the last lesson, this lesson Augst allow me to play the patterns with the music. For some weird reason he chose Chen Weilian songs again. I have a bit of a problem for the slower piece, keep losing the tempo... For the faster piece, manage to catch it better... Think its because I'm very used to playing at 80....

So after playing the basic pattern for both the songs, he went back to the slower piece again and ask me to play with my own creativity and add in the fill-ins..... So i need not play the basic Hi-Hat pattern all the time... change to play on the Tom, etc.... He demo-ed once for me to see... Well... i was a bit shy and not daring so i tried most of the things i can remember him playing during the demo (hahahaa) the feeling wasn't too bad.... although the result was forgettable... and he went on to ask me to try on the faster piece but no i can't do it for that...

After a while, we both got sian of the song... so he went to play luan shi fu sheng and ask me to play a hi-hat pattern with it.... i had a super hard time trying to catch the tempo.. either i get too fast or i get too slow... and he is crazy enough to ask me to play it in quavers.... how can... i'm not tat fast lor.... then he went on to teach me some parts of it for the "fill-in".... quite fun and shiok... at least much better then Chen Weilian song lah (not that i have anything against him... but compare his song with MD song... no fight okie).... so at least the lesson end with some fun....

now i'm thinking whether to ask him to teach me some MD songs... i printed out a score already... think its about time i start learning a song... at least i can see myself progressing... hmmm...
